Is solar energy credit only apply to income tax due and not to self emlpoyenet tax for social security?

If a I do not owe Federal Insome Tax but owe Self- Employment social security Tax, will my Solar Energy credit be applied to to the Self- Employment tax? I computed on Turbo tax but it does not carry over to the self-employemnt tax.  Please advise. Pete C

No. Self-employment tax is a completely different tax. It is put toward your social security and medicare accounts. It is not Federal income tax.
