If I work for DoorDash and am technically self-employed, can I write off gas as a business expense? Or what about my phone ?

Since the company doesn’t offer gas reimbursement, can I keep record of the gas I use and write it off with my taxes? Would my phone bill count for this too as I need data in order to work?

You can deduct mileage or actual expense prorated for business use. Percent of phone use is also a deductible.
