I received a1099 NEC because of a bonus as a First Responder from the State. It is not my employer, so how do I enter the 1099 NEC as a bonus and not self employment?

The 1099 NEC is from the State and not my employer.  As i tried to enter the info in, the software made me create a business as a self employed individual, which is not correct.  It was simply a bonus from the state, not my employer.

When you enter the 1099-NEC, there is a question that follows regarding uncommon situations.    If you choose the option that says 'not money earned as an employee or self-employment, but a sporadic activity', you can skip Schedule C.   It will place the income on Schedule 1 as Other Income.

Am I considered self-employed?
