I need to report payout from a legal settlement without a 1099-MISC. The help section references a "jump to" link but it doesn't appear.

I can't enter as 1099-MISC because I don't have pertinent details from that form.

To enter your income from a taxable legal settlement click the following:

  • Federal
  • Income and Expenses
  • Scroll down to Less Common Income and click Show More
  • Start next to Miscellaneous Income
  • Start next to Other Reportable Income

This will put it on line 8z of your schedule 1 as other income. 

 

What information do you not have that you need to enter?
