Retired is not a filing status.   Filing status means Single, Married Filing Jointly, Married Filing Separately, Head of Household, or Qualified Widow.

If you are no longer self-employed then you may not need to use the Self-Employed version of the software.  You can try using a lower version like Deluxe or Premier.  Or if you use the desktop software you can use any version of the CD/download; all versions have all the forms and schedules.

When you enter your occupation in My Info you can use "Retired" if you want to.  The IRS does not use "occupation" for anything that affects your tax due or refund.

If you have retirement income:

For Social Security benefits---Do not try to enter your SSA1099  or RR1099RB as a W-2.  Go to Federal> Wages & Income>>Retirement Plans and Social Security  (SSA1099 and 1099RRB) to enter your SSA1099.

To enter your retirement income from a retirement account or pension, Go to  Federal> Wages and Income>Retirement Plans and Social Security>IRA  401 k) Pension Plan Withdrawals to enter your 1099R.
