I have a 1099-MISC with a line entry: "Royalties". This is from a business I sold and for the use of the business name. How do I report this?

I prefer not to use Schedule E.

You enter the Form 1099-Misc in the Wages and Income section of TurboTax, then Other Common Income, then Income from Form 1099-MISC. Based on what you describe it would be royalty income and would be treated that way in TurboTax based on how the Form 1099-Misc is listed. As such, it would be reported on a Schedule E.
