I have a 1099-misc for crop insurance proceeds and turbotax is calculating self-employment tax on that crop insurance. how do I get rid of the SE tax?

You will have to delete the 1099-MISC that you have entered and re-enter this in the correct spot.

If you are a farmer and received this for crop damage, this would be added to the income for your farm. You have been deducting the expense of crop insurance from Schedule F for the farm and this would be treated as farm income.

Please see this TurboTax Tip about farming.
