Hi! I am a self-employed psychotherapist. I understand personal therapy can be considered a deduction. What type of deduction would this be filed under?

To be more specific, my own personal therapy as part of my professional development expenses.

It is a medical expense.  To report such an expense in TurboTax online:

  1. In the Federal section,
  2. go to Deductions & Credits
  3. scroll down the page to Medical
  4. click on the drop down arrow if necessary
  5. select Medical Expenses
  6. respond to the questions.
