Withdrawal of Roth IRA Contributions - how to report in TurboTax

I took a $5k withdrawal of CONTRIBUTIONS from my Roth IRA in 2020. I know its penalty/tax free and it shows as non-taxable on Federal return. However, when I try and complete the inputs in TurboTax it is asking for my nondeductible contributions in all of my TRADITIONAL IRAs. Why does that matter? And the $5k withdrawal is showing as taxable in NJ and I'm also unable to figure out how to change that to non-taxable. Thanks.

What code is in box 7 on your 1099-R?   Is the IRA/SEP/SIMPLE box checked?

You would only get that question if the distribution was form a Traditional IRA. A Roth would not have the IRA box checked.

Box 7 = J and IRA/SEP/SIMPLE Box is NOT checked. I "told" TurboTax the box is not checked.

Delete the 1099-R and re-enter.   Unless you also entered a 10990-R with the IRA box checked or make a Traditional IRA contribution that question show not be asked.    If it comes up en error just ignore it and don't enter anything.

Thanks. I re-entered that 1099-R and Federal works now. I also converted some traditional IRA's to Roth in 2020 and they are reported correctly. But TurboTax is still showing the $5k withdrawal of ROTH contributions as taxable in New Jersey which I don't think is correct.
