Why isn't the first question on Schedule D answered (regarding investment in a qualified opportunity fund)? Since it's a yes or no question, doesn't it need an answer?

TurboTax does not support opportunity zone investments.

So while the question may be on Schedule D, TurboTax will never answer it.

So it's OK to file it with no answer? This is the first year I've had to file a Schedule D so I can't compare it to last year. I just don't want it flagged by the IRS for not being answered.

I have the same question. For most taxpayers, the answer would be "no". Why doesn't TurboTax allow the box to be checked "no"?

I think it can be checked on the forms, but is that answer included in the e-file?

@csykes and @superman23 not answering the question does not effect your return.  The IRS is aware that TurboTax is not going to generate an electronic file with a qualified opportunity fund.  TurboTax does not check the box on the forms if they are generated.  It is unnecessary but if you would like you can print the return and check the box before paper filing the return.
