Why isn't my Form 1099-R total of $34,918.18 included as income on my 1040 form ? I'm not sure if I made a mistake.

Hi there!

Was there an amount in box 2a of your 1099R? Revisit the 1099R topic and walk through the screens again- you could have possibly missed a box somewhere.

Is the taxable amount not determined box checked? What type of income is this? Has it been taxable in the past?

The taxable amount not determined box is checked. This distribution from retirement. Does that make sense ?

That means that the company issuing the 1099R could not determine the taxable amount. You need to determine the taxable amount. Retirement income from where? IRA, 401k pension? Does the account have basis?

The income is from my monthly pension checks that I began receiving on July 1,2016.
