Please check that your 1099-R was entered correctly.  Box 7 should have code Q for "Qualified Roth IRA distribution."

Did you import this 1099-R from your financial institution?/  It may not have transferred correctly.

You may need to delete it and import it again or even enter it manually (type it in yourself) if that doesn't correct the issue.

Add/Edit/Delete Form 1099-R (Distributions From Pensions, Annuities, Retirement or Profit-Sharing Plans, IRAs, Insurance Contracts, etc.):

  1. Open your return (if not already open).
  2. Enter "1099r" in the Search box.
  3. Click on "jump to 1099r" link.
  4. Import or Enter you information manually.
