Yes, if you were adversely affected by a disaster and you received a distribution that qualifies for favorable tax treatment then you need to include Form 8915B in your tax return. Form 8915B is currently scheduled to be released on 03/04/2020. Unfortunately, the Form hasn't been updated by the IRS yet.

You can check the most current form availability here:

I checked this form is available on the IRS website.  Just when will Turbo Tax update it?  The program says 05/14/2020 which is too late and long.  I would like to see this done asap.

The IRS just updated this form recently.  And this is how it works:

The fact that the forms are available on the IRS website has nothing to do with any tax software program.  The forms are available if you are going to download to complete on your own.  However, e-filing is different.  Once the form is finalized by the IRS, it has to be coded into the special language the software uses and has to be thoroughly tested for calculations and e-filing acceptability.  IRS then has to approve it for e-file.  It always takes a little longer for a form to become available for e-file in a software program.  I hope this helps you understand the situation.  At this point, the IRS expects to approve the form on TurboTax e-file as  05/14//2020.

Both the 8915-A & 8915-B will be final in the 1040 update release on Wed Apr 22 (or Thur morning).

The Forms Availability site should show that by tomorrow morning.

Today is 4/8/2021 the newest TT scheduled release date for the 2020 form 8915B.   What time TODAY will Turbo Tax be ready?  IRS has published this form months ago!

The 8915-B is scheduled for today for print. When the word switches to available, you will know it is ready.

The 8915-B is for disasters from 2017. File 2020 Form 8915-B if either of the following applies:

  • You received a qualified 2017 disaster distribution in 2018 that you are including in income in equal amounts over 3 years.
  • You made a repayment of a qualified 2017 disaster distribution in 2020
