Why does form 5329-S and form 5329-T keep showing up in the Federal review? I do not have/need those forms?

Form 5329 is prepared under Other Tax SituationsExtra Tax on Early Retirement Withdrawals. The form is generated automatically when you enter Form 1099-R to report a retirement distribution.

If you need to return to the Form 5329 information after completing the TurboTax interview, follow these directions to jump directly to the entry screen.

  1. Select Federal Taxes (Personal in the Self-Employed/Home and Business edition).
  2. Select Other Tax Situations.
  3. Scroll down the Other Tax Situations screen until you see the "Additional Tax Payments" group.
  4. Click Start/Update button next to the Extra Tax on Early Retirement Withdrawals topic.
  5. Follow the prompts.

If it is not needed, you can delete it.

Here's the general procedure for viewing the forms list and deleting unwanted forms, schedules, and worksheets in TurboTax Online:

  1. Open or continue your return in TurboTax.
  2. In the left menu, select Tax Tools and then Tools.
  3. In the pop-up window Tool Center, choose Delete a form.
  4. Select Delete next to the form/schedule/worksheet in the list and follow the instructions.

The 5329 is used for many reasons other then retirement plans.

Purpose of Form
Use Form 5329 to report additional
taxes on:
• IRAs,
• Other qualified retirement plans,
• Modified endowment contracts,
• Coverdell ESAs,
• QTPs,
• Archer MSAs,
• HSAs, or
• ABLE accounts.

You can print all forms (after your pay) and see what line the additional tax is on and that will tell you the reason.
