Why do I get errors stating that "Partial RMD amt should not have amount if the entire distribution applies to the RMD" when I checked that only part was an RMD?

I have gone back multiple times to check this 1099-R entry.

When entering your 1099-R, it sounds like you may have originally chosen Only part of this distribution was an RMD and entered an amount in that box, and then changed your answer to The entire distribution was an RMD.  You will need to go back to this section and remove the amount to resolve the message. (See screenshot below for reference)

To get back to your 1099-R entries and the follow up questions, please follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to TurboTax and choose continue or Pick up where you left off
  2. On the left side bar, choose Federal and then Wages & Income
  3. Scroll through the Income section and select Add/Edit next to IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R)
  4. Click the edit pencil next to the 1099-R you need to change
  5. When you get to the screen "How much of the $$$ was an RMD? click on Only part of this distribution was an RMD and make sure you do not have an amount in that box if the entire distribution applies to your RMD.

Please note, there have been recent updates to the program regarding RMD's.  Please review your 1099-R entries in TurboTax and complete all of the follow-up interview questions.  Once you are done updating your 1099-R entries, click Continue and answer those follow-up questions.
