Where is the question about taking a leave of absence within the year? Such as flma?

Both my husband and I took 12 weeks of this year. Only 6 weeks of mine were paid 6 unpaid. All of his were unpaid. It was for the birth of a child. Does this get us a tax break?

No, you don't get a tax break for taking FMLA leave from work; only the employer gets the tax break.

Refer to the IRS FAQ Employer Credit for Paid Family and Medical Leave.
