Where/how do i fill out the lump sum information from my SSD (ssa-1099) form.

I have my form but i am confused on filling out the lump sum part of it. I did get a retroactive payment that spanned back to 2017 but the form only says "includes xx money paid in 2020 for 2019"

Your SSA-1099 lump-sum section breaks down the payments into what amount was received for each preceding year.

You can only enter one year at a time. If you need to enter benefits received for a different tax year, select Add another lump-sum payment.

The lump sum question comes up when you put in the SSA-1099.

Federal

Wages and Income

Retirement Plans and Social Security

Social Security (SSA-1099, RRB-1099)

After you enter your information from your SSA-1099 you will come to the page about Lump Sum
