Where do I find the Turbo Tax Form SSA 1099 worksheet?

Turbo Tax shows a space for Sociel Security Benefits but not the worksheet to calculate my taxable benefits. Where do I find this worksheet and where do I enter the calculated amount?

There is a new question this year asking if you lived in a foreign place.  People have been answering it wrong or skipping it.  Go back through the Social Security entries.  And it is for each spouse.  So if you have a low amount on 1040 line 6b you might have answered wrong for 1 person.

You can go back into your tax return but be very careful not to change anything.  Click on Add a State to let you back into your return.  You should see this screen after you enter your Social Security and hit Continue.  What is checked Yes or No?

There is no need for you to calculate the taxable amount of your SS benefits.  When you enter box 5 from the SSA-1099 and you also have other taxable income reported, the TurboTax program does the calculation and enters the taxable amount, if any, on your Form 1040 Line 6b.

TurboTax uses the same worksheet to calculate the taxable portion that is in IRS Publication 915 Social
Security and Equivalent Railroad Retirement Benefits - https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p915.pdf#page=16

May 2025. I reviewed my completed 1040 with on-line TT.  I saw line 6a SSA-1099 amount with zero taxable. TT calculated a big refund. Why would I question you?  IRS sent a letter with some SS taxable and a bill plus interest! TT live call said he would check and call me back. A brief text reply from him said I answered a question that I lived in a foreign country that is why no SS was taxed.  He said I should call Max Audit. They are only for IRS audits.  HUH. I cannot find a worksheet for line 6a.

Your old answer to this thread says we do not need to calculate taxable amounts because TT does it for us.

@john54linda57 - TT will calculate it for you. however, since you answered you live in a foreign country (is that correct?), TT takes that into account when determining the taxable amount.

That foreign country question is new in 2024 and has thrown a number of people "off kilter" by not answering it correctly.
