Where do I enter a loss on my Edward Jones 1099 statement? Do I need to do anything with my 401K which is noted on my W2?

Enter every trade on Schedule D. The program will calculate the overall gain or loss. Follow the steps below.

Enter your W-2 exactly as it appears and your 401k contribution will be taken into account.

To enter an investment sale from a brokerage account (1099-B), follow the steps below.

•        Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)

•        Click on Wages and Income (Personal Income using Home and Business)

•        Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)

•        Under Investment Income

•        On Stocks, Mutual Funds, Bonds, Other, click the start or update button
