After you pay the TT fees, open your return and keep scrolling down to find all the worksheets.  It looks like this:

2021 Publication 915 (irs.gov) at page 16.

The Social Security Benefits Worksheet is created within TurboTax when any Social Security benefits are entered.

If you are using a CD/downloaded version of TurboTax, you can view the worksheet using Forms Mode by clicking Forms in the upper right corner of the screen.  Look for Social Sec in the forms list on the left.

If you are using TurboTax Online, the worksheet can be viewed or printed after you have paid for your return.

A blank copy of the worksheet can be found in the IRS Instructions for Form 1040.  Use this link and scroll down a bit:  Social Security Worksheet

BUT why is the worksheet blank except for the first and last amounts. Had to check calculations manually to verify figure going to 1040. How can TT leave ALL the lines blank??

To clarify on the SSN worksheet, are there totals in line 1 and Line 15 but no where else?

worse than that: just lines 1 and 20.  I printed off a copy and filled it in manually and TT has the rights result but nothing to back it.  It worked in most previous years. why so many mistakes this time?

If you would be willing to share a diagnostic copy of your tax file, it could be helpful to examine the situation in more detail.  The diagnostic file will not contain personally identifiable information, only numbers related to your tax forms.

To do so, follow the instructions below and post the token number along with which version of TurboTax you are using in a follow-up thread.

Use these steps if you are using TurboTax Online:

  • Sign in to your account and be sure you are in your tax return.
  • Select Tax Tools in the menu to the left.
  • Select Tools.
  • Select Share my file with agent.
  • A pop-up message will appear, select OK to send the sanitized diagnostic copy to us.
  • Post the token number here.

If you are using a CD/downloaded version of TurboTax, use these steps:

  • Select Online at the top of the screen.
  • Select Send Tax File to Agent.
  • Click OK.
  • Post the token number here.

Hi, did you get an answer ?  Mine is the same - only lines 1 and 20 are filled in by TT - are you filling in the other #s manually?  makes no sense....

thanks martyrbeach.  I had to do it manually -- wasn't going to submit tax return not knowing if key figure was true.  "trust but verify" - not so much the former, more the latter
