I can't find a box 3a on the 1099-DIV. There is a box 3. Do you mean 1040 line 3a?
Where are you getting the income from (what form, what line?) Are you sure that figure doesn't include other, non-dividend income?
The odd thing about 1099-DIV's is that box 1a (total dividends) includes the amount shown in box 1b (qualified dividends) and box 5 (199A dividends). 1b and 5 are called out separately because they get special (lower rates/deduction).
Dividends can come from other places too. Like any K-1 forms. Did you import any 1099 forms from your bank or broker, etc? Where is 1902 showing up as income? Check the actual 1040 return. What lines?
I import from my brokerage but that 1099 DIV is the only receive. In addition to the numbe2Ars in boxes 1a and 1b and2, there is info in other boxes which I input into turbo tax. Box 3, box 5, box 11 and box 12. Those numbers were input into Turbo Tax but do not show up when I review. Just trying to find out how turbo tax came up with the number it did. This year's version of Turbo Tax is unreal. Gonna move to another software.
Oh, there is something in Box 11. You didn't say that in your original post. Does box 1a + box 11 = $1902?
Box 1b is already in box 1a, as is box 5. Box 11 is an additional amount for tax-exempt dividends. Box 12 is already in box 11.
Unfortunately it very difficult for us to guess what is going in your return unless you get look at the actual form 1040 and tell us what numbers you see on what lines. Even then we might not be able to figure it out.
