What line on the dependent's 1040 is used to determined what the dependent's income is for determining whether it is over the $4050 limit?

what line on the dependent's 1040A is used to determined what the dependent's income is for determining whether it is over the $4050 limit?  Is it Line 21? or line 15?

It would be line 15 of the 2016 Form 1040A or line 22 of the 2016 Form 1040.
