What forms do I use to submit my Roth 401(k) and Roth IRA contributions?

You actually do not submit any forms, as the Roth's are not deductible on your return, only Traditional IRA and 401K's are.

A 401K Roth (and Traditional) contribution is shown on the W-2 and already reflected.

The Roth IRA contribution for tax year 2016 should be entered on your return however to ensure that it not an over contribution.

You would do this by doing the following:

To enter the Roth IRA

  • Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
  • Click on Deductions and Credits
  • Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
  • Scroll down to Retirments and Investments
  • On Tradtional and Roth IRA contributions, click on the start or update button
