we have never taken a disaster distribution before 2024. the program recognizes my No as an error. I even tried saying Yes and the program still said it was an error.

Why will the program not recognize my no answer to not have taken a disaster distribution before 2024? i am getting an error message.

It depends. There may be forms in your return that may have been mistakenly put there. One way to check is:

  1. Log into Turbo Tax
  2. Go to Tax tools in the left navigational pane of your return.
  3. Go to tools
  4. Go to delete a form
  5. Scroll down the list of forms. When you scroll to your forms, look for anything that says 8915. if you see 8915, 8915-E or 8915 F etc then
  6. Select delete for all those forms mentioned if present.
  7. Recheck your forms to see if it has been deleted.

If you using the software installed on your computer, go to the Forms mode in your return and delete the forms directly from there. if this is not your issue, you may wish to clear and start over your return only as a last resort.
