We are retired receiving SS only,owe nothing nor will receive refund.Do we need to file and can it be done at no cost?

If Social Security Income is the only income received in 2017, it is not taxable and reportable, and you need not file a tax return.

If you received other taxable income, you may need to file a return, and include your Social Security income
