Voluntary withholding from SSA1099 enter in the Social Security area of income is not included in 1040 line 25b.

My 1040 looked wacky. Building spreadsheets to determine problems, I found voluntary withholding entered in the Social Security portion of Income was not included  in 1040 line 25b? Where is the correct place(s) the withholding should be entered and where will it be reflected in the 1040?

Could it included in line 25a?  Go back and check if you entered SSA-1099 in the right place and entered the withholding in box 6.

Enter a SSA-1099, SSA-1099-SM or RRB-1099  under

Federal Taxes on the left side or top

Wages and Income

Then scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security

Then the second line - Social Security (SSA-1099. RRB-1099) - click the Start or Revisit  button

If it is not included in 1040 line 25b. you didn't enter that amount.
