Won’t take my account number and document id from the 1099 as well.

If you have issues importing data from Acorns, I would suggest you enter the information manually.  Here are the steps:

In TurboTax online, (for example if you have 1099b or 1099div)

  • Sign in to your TurboTax account and select Pick up where you left off
  • At the right upper corner, in the search box, type in "1099b" and Enter
  • Select Jump to 1099b
  • Follow prompts

Or:

  • At the right upper corner, in the search box, type in "1099div" and Enter
  • Select Jump to 1099div
  • Follow prompts

FYI  - I am having the exact same issue with Acrons but not my other accounts.  I'd prefer not to have to manually enter it.   EDIT: Also, Acorns does not show up when you go to enter it manually.

I am also having the same issue with Acorns retrieving my forms, I HIGHLY prefer to not have to enter this manually. I saw on Reddit that tons of people are also complaining having this issue with their Acorns acounts and TurboTax import. Hopefully this gets fixed soon!

I'm having the same issue.  The instructions in 2019 Turbotax say to log in to my Acorns account, then to enter my Acorns account and the *2018* Document ID.  Should the instructions say the *2019* Document ID?  In any case, the import doesn't work with either the 2018 or the 2019 numbers. I'd like to see this fixed also.

That is the most absurd suggestion ever!  How about fix the issue as all the other sites work fine?

I've reported the importing issue to a TurboTax Moderator, who should see it today.

And I also pointed out that the wrong tax year is shown in the small-prinmt instructions so they can correct that on the screen.  I suspect it was just missed.  It wouldn't make since to use the 2018 document.

  Thanks for pointing that out.

One thing to note I noticed that my document ID for 2019 is the same as it was for 2018...

@Anonymous  i noticed the same thing.  I sent a note to acorns to let them know as it may be a mistake on their end

I too have this issue. Thank you for raising the concern, and I anticipate the solution as inserting each sale would be quite timely.

You do not need to put in each transaction for stock sales, you can put in the summary information that appears for the Short Term Sales and the Long Term Sales.

Since the IRS receives a copy of the 1099-B the summary is enough information for the program to calculate the correct amount of tax due.

A Moderator has responded to me that the problem with Acorns importing has been submitted to the TT investigations team.   This being a weekend and all, and the possibility that the right Acorns personnel also may not be available on a weekend,  it may take a couple days to hear something definitive.   You may just want to wait until TurboTax knows what is going on with the process.

Was a discussion you saw at Reddit for current 2019 returns or for a prior year?   A Moderator said he mainly found old posts there.

In any case, I was informed that he has submitted the problem to the Turbotax investigations team.   With this being a weekend, there may not be info for a couple days, since also they may need to liaison with the right folks at Acorn, too, which may be difficult on a weekend.

I received the following email from Acorns:

Acorns Customer Support

Hi Richard,

Thank you for reaching out and I would love to provide some assistance.

Turbo Tax does not support our 1099s to be input automatically, you have to enter the information manually. I do apologize for the inconvenience. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to help you!

If you have any additional questions, feel free to reply to this email and a member of our support team will help you further!

Thank you,
Michael
