I have a small business, this is a 1099-K provided by a payment card processor. They say the number is provided by the state. The state didn't know what I was talking about.
The answer is random, but simple. You can put any random 14 number combination. Simply add 5 more digits to what you have in your example, and it should work.
The state identification number is not required to file your tax return. However, TurboTax requires an entry to continue with your tax preparation. You can simply enter a number with any 14 digits. This will allow you to continue with your tax return.
It depends. If you are referring to the entry box on the 1099-K follow the instructions next. Use the federal employer identification number (EIN) for the state number as well. Do not enter any dash when entering it into the state identification field.
Please update here if you have more questions.
No, it won't take the EIN. With or without a dash. I'd be happy with a way to force it to be blank. The provider doesn't know what the number might be. Two different people have told me it should be blank, but TurboTax won't take it blank.
