Turbotax says that Form 8915B-T is not available, but irs.gov has the 2018 form 8915B available for the retirement distribution for 2017 disasters. Whats the difference?

When TurboTax says that a form is not available, what it means is that not only does the form have to be composed, but also all the programming needed to populate that form and the extensive testing needed to release the form have not been completed. It takes time - especially at this time of year when thousands of forms are being released by the IRS and state agencies - to get, program, and test all these forms.

The 8915B (and all of its programming and testing) is scheduled to be available in TurboTax on 2/28/2019. Please follow the following link for any updates - https://ttlc.intuit.com/replies/3319876

The IRS did not release the *instructions* for the 8915B until yesterday (2/14/19).   It takes at least 2 weeks to comply with the instructions and testing with the IRS.

I am still waiting on this form. I just looked today and after several postponed dates it is now showing 5/14. I would like to be able to send in my taxes and amend them later. Is this possible. This wait is insane

My gut feeling is that the IRS will not deal with form updates until after they deal with the Corona stimulus.   Since e the filing date was pushed to July 15, it is probably a low priority now.

You could file and amend later, but keep in mind that you sign (either on paper or electronically) that you certify under penalty of perjury that the tax return is accurate and complete to the best of your knowledge and you know that it is not complete without that form.
