TurboTax says: "Review this Schwab (but no 1099B) sale Your info should match your 1099‑B exactly" What is the difference between a 1099B and a 1099-B? If not, what's up?

If there is no Box 2 on my 1099, can I tell TT that it is not checked?

Perhaps, but there are many variations of the form.  First, make sure that the information has not been reported in some other manner.

See IRS form 1099-B here.  Box 2 reports:

  • Short term gain or loss,
  • Long term gain or loss, or
  • Ordinary income.

Virtually every provider reports 1099-B information in a different format.
