If it is on the form you have to also mark it on the screen .... in fact it you don't mark it then the next screen asks you to double check the entry so you must have missed this entry twice ...
1) make sure the IRA box on the form is checked so it goes to the IRA line on the form 1040 and not the pension line
2) make sure the 1099-Rs all have the correct owner marked
3) the distributions should be taxable
Thanks, but all is correctly marked on 1099-Rs. The problem is with TurboTax.
Are you saying you don't think her IRA RMD and your Qualified Pension Plan are not taxable?
They are almost always taxable. A qualified pension plan shows the taxable amount in box 2a of the 1099-R
Of course it is taxable. The amount of her distribution just shouldn't be shown as part of my pension plan distribution. It is simply in the wrong place, and I cannot correct it within the system.
At the 1099-R screen, check the IRA box between boxes 7 & 8. That will put the IRA income on line 15 of form 1040 (line 11 of 1040A) instead of line 16 pensions (line 12 of 1040A)
The box is checked on her 1099-R form. Don't get the "screen" part.
Wait a minute. You're saying go back into system to the page that asks if the box is checked? Right?
