Try closing TurboTax, clearing your cache and deleting your cookies. Review the TurboTax Help article How to clear your cache and How do I delete cookies? for specific instructions for your browser.

Also, reboot your computer.

@JonE2

If you ARE using the desktop software??

That is a long-running software BUG (that should have been fixed by now!!!!!).....and has happened to folks who had a Supporting Details (SD) sheet attached to one of the fields in last year's SS form.

IF you switch to Forms Mode, and open the Social Security sheet that should be in there, you can make entries in the A, B, C, D lines there (they are labelled as to what to put in each line)....you may find that one of them has an SD sheet attached to it.   IF you delete the SD sheet before entering the data, you'll   get access to the line again AND to the interview for the SS when you go back to the interview.

Clearing cache and deleting cookies didn't help. Rebooting the computer and restarting TurboTax (with today's updates) didn't help either.

What's wrong with Intuit? How can they let this longstanding bug go unfixed.  They should at least give me my money back If not pay a fine.

SteamTrain's workaround (switch to forms mode to enter this year's SS numbers and then switch back to step by step) solved the immediate problem. Now I can get along with entering data and filing my tax return. THANK YOU.

Has anybody reported this bug to Intuit?  I think the root bug is in transferring data from last year's tax return to this year's.   In my case, when I switched to the form view, I saw that last year's social security numbers were already there.  I had used the + helper form to add two SS numbers and it had been transferred from last year too.
