It might be a foreign address, in which case, you need to click the "Foreign Address" box on the entry screen for the 1099-R.

If it is a US address, then you might need to verify that it is correct, but looking it up online for the locality of the business.

I did not get the answer needed. I used the zip code Securian has on the 1099R they sent me and Turbo Tax says it’s wrong so won’t let me complete filing.

Did you get a 9 digit zip code? Cut it back to 5 and see if that helps - the IRS won't mind.

Did you check the address and zip code using the USPS Zip Code Lookup tool? If USPS shows a different zip, then enter the USPS zip to see if that will get you by. Again, the IRS won't mind.

Worst case, try just deleting the zip code to see if TurboTax will let you do that...once again, the IRS won't mind because they care much more about the numbers in boxes 1 through whatever and the plan's Tax ID Number than the plan's address (which they already have anyway).

What is the city, state and zip code you are entering?

Try deleting the Form 1099-R and then re-enter the form manually.

Enter 1099-r in the Search box located in the upper right of the program screen. Click on Jump to 1099-R

Delete the form and re-enter.

Delete the Form 1099-R and enter manually.  This should correct the error.

Be sure the city and state are correct.  For example, Arizona is AZ (not AR).

This just happened to me! I kept focusing on the CITY and ZIP they were matching so kept trying NOTHING... Discovered that it was the STATE! was wrong ..it kept coming up as KS and it should have been KY !!! Noticed after trying to re-do it over and over!  DOUBLE ck the state abbreviation Im thinking TURBO tax has some states automatically go in and they are wrong .. hope this helps!  I was able to file once I changed the STATE

I have the same problem. State is typed in correctly. I bought this for electronic filing since I am out of the country. Very annoying

FYI ... the city/state/zip on the 1099-R is IRRELEVANT to the IRS   ... simply use any combination that will work even if it is your own city/state/zip  so you can efile.

the answers you give are stupid.   Of course I rechecked my W-2.  Of course I checked the address on line.  It is good and it is in USA.  You don't address what to do next.  Turbo Tax is wrong, and needs to correct their database  meantime I can't file

2 additional things to check for.

Be sure that the foreign address box is not checked.

If it still fails then use the USPO site to look up the actual zip for that address.

Ok ... if  the TT program is having an issue with the zip & city combination  then  you can enter any address that works on the 1099-R screen (even your own address)  since the IRS doesn't require it ... only the EIN must be correct  for them so it can be matched up with the 1099-R info that was sent to them by the issuer.

Good advice. Enter that section again manually. Once I put the state (Box 15) it worked.
