TT is correctly calculating excess HSA contributions of 1165 between myself and my spouse. TT then states I have an excess contribution of 1400. Is this a bug?

I was on a HDHP for January only. My wife was on a HDHP for the entire year except December.

First, it is probably not a bug.

 

Second, what was your HDHP coverage (Family, I assume)? What was your spouse's coverage?

 

Third, how much did you each contribute to an HSA (did you have more than one HSA)?

 

Fourth, where did TurboTax tell you that the excess was $1,165 and where did TurboTax say the excess was $1,140? Was this in the HSA interview? It normally does this after the second tax payer's HSA interview is finished. The excess is not normally reported in two separate places.
