The TurboTAx software imputes the 10% penalty for not taking the full RMD for last year. Is there a way I can change the entries so that there is a zero tax penalty?

After talking with TurboTax support, I think I found the answer.  Once completion of the Form 5329 is done, go back through the process and "reanswer" all of the questions in the walk through process.  When you do this the tax penalty will go to zero.  It did so for me (with the help of theTurboTax person online).

Where do you see the penalty and or what messages is the software is giving you?  With that clarification, we can provide better guidance.

Thank you ... But it was not a failure to take the RMD, but  we did not take then entire amount required.  The penalty figure oof 10% is found on the Form 5329, as well as the Schedule 2.  I have entered the explanation and hope to get the penalty waived.
