The IRS Accepted My Return. I set up direct debit. But my account has not been debited. Help!

How can I pay my taxes if the IRS won't debit my account?

Hello, I'm sorry you are having issues with the IRS taking their direct debit.  Normally the payment is taken on the date you indicated when filing the return, but sometimes the IRS is not always timely in taking the direct debits.  If you don't see the debit in your bank account 7–10 days after your return has been accepted, call IRS e-file Payment Services at 1-888-353-4537.

Oh my, I would verify on the IRS website in the make and view payments area.   

 

IRS On-line account 

View your balance

  • View the amount you owe and a breakdown by tax year

Once you verify it has not been paid you need to contact your bank to stop the payment.
