The company I work for was sold and my 401k was transferred to a different Investment company. I received a 1099-R but I did not withdraw from my 401k. Do I enter it?

I had previously Vanguard but it was moved to fidelity. Vanguard sent me a 1099-R form that says $0 taxable. Do I need to include it in my taxes? thanks

Yes, you will still enter the form and will indicate the withdrawal was rolled over to another account.  To enter this in TurboTax you will follow these steps:

  1. Click Wages and Income
  2. Scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security, click show more
  3. Click start next to IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R)
  4. Click Add another 1099-R
  5. Import or type in the 1099-R information as it appears on your form
  6. Verify Code G is in box 7 of your 1099-R (this indicates the 401k was due to a rollover)
