So, I didn't make enough money to need to pay taxes in my state of Residence (GA). I don't get any back, I don't owe any. Do I still need to file?

I don't mind doing the work, I just don't want to pay the TurboTax state filing fee if I don't owe anything or have a refund coming

As a resident of Georgia, you are required to file a Georgia income tax return if any of the following apply:

  • You are required to file a Federal income tax return
  • You have income that is subject to Georgia income tax but not subject to federal income tax
  • Your income exceeds Georgia's standard deduction and personal exemptions
