Should I include an SSA-1099 for retirement benefits that I paid back in the same year?

I received an SSA-1099 showing income after I repaid it and have not received an adjusted SSA-1099 that I was told would be sent to me by the SSA. How should I handle on my 2016 federal filing?

Because all tax documents are reported directly to the IRS, you will want to contact the Social Security office to get an adjusted SSA-1099 with any corrections.
