Should an investment company provide a 1099 for a 401-K account from which there were no withdrawals during the tax year?

No, if you had no withdrawals during the year, you should not get a 1099R or any 1099.

What is the 1099 for?

You did not have an over contribution to a 401K plan did you?

I did not receive a 1099 for this 401-K account, and was uncertain whether I should expect one.  Thanks very much for your very timely reply.
