ROTH 401k excess contribution

Over contributed to ROTH 401k last year by around $1,000 but the excess was taken out before 4/15.  On my 1099R, it's showed a TAXABLE AMOUNT (box 2a) of around 50% of that with distribution code (box 7) of B8.    some ppl advised me that this needs to be reported as OTHER EARNED INCOME, is that correct?

thanks for the guidance

To confirm, the amount in box 2a were the earnings on the excess contribution? If yes, then these will be added to your wages on line 1h of Form 1040. TurboTax will automatically enter this on line 1h when you enter the Form 1099-R.
