Retirement Plan

Do I need to file an amendment if my employer forgot to check Retirement Plan box 13 on my W2? They gave me a W-2C with the box now checked but nothing else was changed.

Please check below TurboTax article which answers your exact question.

Yes, you should amend so TurboTax can calculate all retirement related benefits, limitations that are applicable to your own unique tax situation.

Hope this helps. Thanks for posting the question.

My Opinion is no- You do not need an amendment since there is no change to originally reported tax return, and since your employer will also send a copy of the W2C to IRS/Social Security.
