Then after entering his 1099-R the program will specifically ask if he was a PSO.  Answer the question accordingly.

To enter a form 1099-R -

  • Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
  • Click on Wages and Income (Personal Income using Home and Business)
  • Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
  • Scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security
  • On IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R), click the start or update button

Or enter 1099-r in the Search box located in the upper right of the program screen.  Click on Jump to 1099-R

I'm not finding anywhere to enter that I am a retired law enforcement  officer.  I went through the entire 1099-R section

After you enter your 1099R, there is a question that asks you if you were employed as a public safety officer. Here is what the screen should look like.

Please add some additional information so we can provide a more helpful answer.  What is your specific question?  Were you successfully able to find the screen to show you were a public safety officer? What state are you filing?
