Per diem shouldn't be taxable. However, when I enter it, it is being added to my taxable income. what am I doing wrong?

TT help said: To record per diem payments that are non-taxable on your tax return, follow these steps in TurboTax: Enter the 1099-MISC: Start by entering the information from your 1099-MISC form as you normally would. Identify Non-Taxable Income: When prompted, indicate that the per diem is not taxable. TurboTax will guide you through questions to help classify this correctly. Use the "Other Income" Section: If TurboTax does not automatically categorize it, you can report it under the "Other Income" section and specify that it is non-taxable per diem. But none of those options are available. What should I do?

Who is paying per diem, why are you receiving it, and why do you think it is non-taxable?
