Our return is showing excess employer contributions when they do not fit the criteria. How do we get this come off of our return?

I think I originally did not select that we had a HDHP and we did. I went back and fixed this but the excess employer contributions are still showing on our return.

Go back and delete any Forms W-2 that have an HSA contribution reported in Box 12 with the code W.

To do this in TurboTax Online:

  1. If you don’t see 2022 TAXES in the left pane, select the dropdown to the right of Income & Expenses on the Hi, let’s keep working on your taxes! page and then select Let’s get startedPick up where you left off, or Review/Edit.
    • Otherwise, in the left pane, select Wages & Income
  2. Scroll down and select Edit/Add to the right of Job (W-2)
  3. On the  Your W-2 info so far screen, select the trashcan to the right of each Form W-2 that shows Box 12 Code W entries.  Answer Yes on the Are you sure you want to delete this W-2? popup screen
  4. When you're done deleting the appropriate Forms W-2, and you're back on the Your W-2 info so far screen, select Add a W-2 for the appropriate taxpayer, and re-enter your Form W-2 information

This should re-set the employer contribution information.
