One 1099-MISC has income listed in block 3. The other has income listed in block 6 "Medical payments." Both show up if I Edit/Add 1099. But only one shows in summary.

If I go into Edit/Add, they are both properly listed with the right amounts.  But in the "Your Income" summary page, only the income from the first one is listed.  I don't understand why they're both not showing up.

Both IRS form 1099-MISC's may be found under Income from Form 1099-MISC.  Click Edit / Add to the right to view the forms.

The entry reported in box 3 will be reported as other income and may be found on

  • on line 8z of Schedule 1 of the Federal 1040 tax return, and
  • on line 8 of the Federal 1040 tax return.

The entry reported in box 6 for medical payments is to be reported as a self-employment activity and TurboTax wants you to complete the description of the self-employment activity.  See needs review and Review to the right of Self-employment income and expenses.

Reporting the medical payments as a self-employment activity will allow you to enter expenses against the income and offset the income.  The self-employment activity will be reported on Schedule C Profit or Loss From Business.
