To enter a form 1099-R:

The 1099 R will be entered in the Retirement Plans and Social Security section.
• Select Personal
• Select Personal Income
• Select  Retirement Plans and Social Security
• Select IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R)

Form 1099-R is used to report the distribution of retirement benefits such as pensions, annuities or other retirement plans. Variations of Form 1099-R include:

  • Form CSA 1099R,
  • Form CSF 1099R and
  • Form RRB-1099-R.

Most public and private pension plans that are not part of the Civil Service system use the standard Form 1099-R. You should receive a copy of Form 1099-R, or some variation, if you received a distribution of $10 or more from your retirement plan.

To enter, edit or delete a form 1099-R -

  • Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
  • Click on Wages and Income (Personal Income using Home and Business)
  • Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
  • Scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security
  • On IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R), click the start or update button

Or enter 1099-r in the Search box located in the upper right of the program screen. Click on Jump to 1099-R
