On Form 1040A Line D is requiring a date: either enter a date or it will default to 4/15/2014. The form kicks back for no entry and will not allow date format entry?

Could you clarify your question?  Form 1040A hasn’t been used since tax year 2017.  Answering any of the following questions would help:

  • What section of TurboTax are you working in?
  • What’s the title of the screen you’re on?
  • Are you entering a specific form?
  • Is there an error message or number that you're seeing?
  • Are you working in the federal section, or in a state section?  If state, what state?

Any additional information would be helpful.

Sorry, it is on Federal form 2210 Line D. The form is for underpayment. It is requesting the date of payment but the input box appears to be formatted for a number, not a date. The instructions also read to leave blank to default to 4/15/24 which i have also tried. It is always kicked back to me to correct.

Yes the number format for this field is XX/XX/XXXX, for example 04/15/2024, or you can enter it without the forward slashes, so 042152023.

I am having the same problem.  The system will not take a date in any form.  With or without the forward slashes.  When I try to put in a date (04152025) the only thing that will populate is 4,152,025.

Please share where you are in the program where the date entry is not working.

Remember, if you are entering a date about a tax item, you are working on a 2024 return so the date may be restricted to accepting only 2024 dates depending on what you are entering.
