Need help with a Direct Rollover from a 401k to a IRA pertaining to the "Distribution Amount for the Louisiana return" referenced on pg. "Where is this Distribution From"

For a 1099-R for a Direct Rollover from a 401k to a IRA where I enter from the 1099-R, Box 1 as $10,000, Box 2a as $0.00 and Box 7 as Code G and then a couple of screens later titled "Where is this Distribution From?" I see where Turbotax Premier by default shows the Louisiana distribution amount highlighted as $0.00. So, I understand that a direct rollover is tax exempt for Federal and I presume it to be tax exempt for Louisiana but I am not sure when doing the Federal 1040 at this point whether to leave the LA distribution amount as $0.00 or enter $10,000 to match Box 1 from the 1099-R. Leaving as $0.00 seems to be misleading and replacing with $10,000 leaves me unsure whether the state return will recognize this amount as a direct rollover and qualify as exempt. Please advise!

Leave the Louisiana distribution amount at $0. Louisiana begins with federal adjusted gross income (AGI). A 401(k) rollover is not included in AGI. If your 1099-R Box 15 has a LA state code, Louisiana will get a copy and will know what’s going on.

Thanks for the reply Ernie.

The 1099-R Box 15 does not  have a LA state code but I'll try what you suggested and see what happens.

Thanks,
