My wife was paid for assisting an acquaintance. she doesn't have either a 1099 or a W-2 and doesn't want to request one from her friend. how do we report her income?

My wife's friend's husband died and she's been  helping organize,sort and discard while her friend recovers from hip replacement surgery and her loss.

Your wife should report the income she received for this work as self-employment income, even if she did not receive a form 1099-MISC. In TurboTax, she should report the income as Other self-employed income.
